December 4, 2010 -- Voila the day we awaited the most :) end of term exams.
It was decided that we will have a night-out fun filled ( not the cramming night-outs.. duh!!! enough of it for the semester ); people started raking their brains on what to do?
An almost unanimous choice, "lets go to CCD" :) Next question "Which one?" Sudhix and I wanted to go on long drive, so we suggested we ll go to one of the CCD on highway.
Being in Electronics City, the most obvious choice was the CCD on Hosur road. We decided to skip JMJ Ria's crappy food that evening. Headed towards "Wipro Dhaba" ( Premji will be banging his head against a foundation stone of the Wipro building :P )
WOOO La LA.. more than half of IIIT-B was there. ( Like it mattered! ) We saw-we ordered-we ate. Almost in no time we were out of that place.
I drove ahead, indicating to Sudhix that we will meet on the highway. Late Sudhi--- Always late.. took about 15 minutes of us waiting before we could see Sudhi on the highway.
Smart I should say, he got his Palio tanked up while we waited. After 15 minute long wait I saw a Palio racing menacingly towards us in my rear view. Without losing a minute I realized it was good old Sudhix, I also realized he ain't gonna stop to have a chat on the highway.
I started my sweet little Alto and throttled it on to the highway.
Off we went :-)
The excitement was short lived :-( I had heard really nice things about the Bangalore-Hosur highway. I had extremely high expectations out of that road. It is a part of the "Golden Quadrilateral" I expected it to be as good as NH4, Poona-Bangalore road. Alas, it wasn't so.
The road was full of pot holes, barring a few stretches. and where there were no pot holes, there were trucks ( huge ones :-O ) oh, I can't complain about the trucks, can I? Its their livelihood!
What was 40km away, seemed 400km! We were moving at snailpace.
Sudhix' extreme driving was giving me jitters. I was ranting about the same to Petu. I got an expected response "that is Sudhix for you" :-)
After dodging the trucks ( a commercial check-post at the border was the culprit ) and traffic we reached Tamil Nadu. All the driving in 1st and 2nd gear took its toll. I was running low on fuel :(
I had enough fuel to reach EC, Bangalore; but not being confident about it, stopped at a BP bunk. The best part about refuelling in TN, petrol was about 2 bux cheaper :D After getting the confirmation that i could go swipe my card, got a tank up. Thankfully, the man who "knew" the location of the CCD, was waiting for us to rejoin the highway.
From the pit stop, it was pretty smooth drive, with not many trucks to dodge, we reached CCD soon.
We ordered a whole lot of things,of which I don't remember anything :-| ( guess this the problem with completing a blog after 2 weeks :-| ).
Oh wait!! there is Sudhix online (now Dec 18,2010 11 40 PM), I buzzed him and here is the list of things we ordered :D ( CCD website to the rescue too )
Few of us wanted to have ice cream ( long list, left out the names ) we ordered Choco Hola. It was simply Yummmm... I had to sternly tell people not to touch it until this pic :D
Sudhix ordered a Sizzling brownie. Oh!! As expected, as soon as the delicious arrived, there it was getting gobbled too. Count the hands that can be seen here :P
Chocolate Fantasy, Dark passion, Irish Coffee and Cappuccino were among the other items on the check :)
When we went in, the CCD was quite empty. We were the only people in there!!
Before long, there arrived a big bus full of noisy people; peaceful co-existence seemed almost impossible. I assume the bunch of people were students of some college, I heard a loud authoritarian voice shouting, "Coffee day was a bad idea, we need to leave soon". Whew!! and soon they were gone :)
We finished our first round of orders, then people got busy looking at the menu card for a second serving.
It was almost mignight, and we had to drive back on the highway. I needed a coffee, sleeplessness was gripping over me - I was drowsy, it seemed impossible to drive 45 kms back to college. I ordered a Cappuccino. I convinced a rather reluctant Sudhix to have another coffee. He had eaten a nice dinner and then a Sizzling Brownie, added to it, sleepless previous nights ( remember! we had just finished algo exams ) and I was sure he would have slept off otherwise. Rest of the folks who wanted a second serving too ordered something simple. D, whose order was messed by the guy ( added a nice serving of sugar to the Irish Coffee ) had a sugarless Cappuccino.
What was planned to be a night out was coming to an end. Blame the sleeplessness.
It was photo time.
And then tata to CCD.
We reached IIITB at around 1 15am Dec 5,210 ( again I don't remember the time ). Bid farewell to Petu and Pratibha, they were headed home. Trudged to our respective rooms, and...
CRASH!
Goodnight folks! :)
